Westerwelle auf Besuch in Makedonien


Deutschlands Außenminister, Guido Westerwelle, wird am Freitag in der Republik Makedonien eintreffen. Treffen mit dem makedonischem Präsidenten Gjorgje Ivanov, dem Minister für die EU Integration Fatmir Besimi, Auslandsminister Nikola Popovski und mit dem Führer der größten, aber zur Zeit kriselnden Oppositionspartei SDS sind angekündigt. Auch eine Visite in der Botschaft der Bundesrepublik in Skopje.


German FM Westerwelle to visit Macedonia on Friday
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle will arrive Friday in Macedonia to meet Macedonian top officials.

Westerwelle is set to meet with President Gjorge Ivanov, Deputy PM for EU Integration Fatmir Besimi, Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki and leader of opposition SDSM Branko Crvenkovski, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and German Embassy to Skopje inform.

The talks will focus on Macedonia's EU integration process ahead of European Council Summit in June 2013. Westerwelle will be informed about political developments in the country. Possibilities for intensifying the bilateral ties and economic cooperation between the two countries will also be discussed.

Germany is seen as one of the key partners to Western Balkan countries. In accordance with the European partners, Minister Westerwelle during his visit will confirm expectations related to reform processes in the countries from the region and their improvement, reads the German Embassy's press release.

Westerwelle is also visiting Albania today within his mini tour to the region.
