EU Commissioner in unannounced visit to Macedonia


EU Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule arrived Wednesday in Macedonia for an unannounced visit to meet with Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, President Gjorge Ivanov and SDSM leader Branko Crvenkovski.

"We can confirm that PM Nikola Gruevski today met with EU Commissioner Fule to discuss the upcoming progress report on Macedonia and the June summit of the European Union. Talks focused on the Euro-agenda, reforms, including recent developments in relation to the opposition's boycott.
In view of the progress and mechanisms for resuming the integration processes, on our part readiness and commitment were expressed to pursuing reforms as well as constructiveness towards principled tackling of the challenges in terms of the EU integration of Macedonia," government sources tell media.

The EU delegation in Skopje said Wednesday that the EU Commissioner also met with President Gjorge Ivanov and SDSM leader Branko Crvenkovski.
"In the meetings he reviewed preparations for the Spring Report of the European Commission for Macedonia. The Commissioner had useful discussions with his hosts. Commissioner Fule will return to Skopje in due course in the context of the High Level Accession Dialogue," it said in a brief press release.
