President Gjorge Ivanov met Tuesday with the Macedonian handball team, which will be part of the 23rd World Men's Handball Championship, taking place from 11 to 27 January in Spain.
Wishing them success at the tournament, Ivanov said the team was expected to make utmost efforts and to do its best while competing.
"Hopefully, you will be able to repeat the success of 2012 achieved at the European championship in Serbia. We are proud of you, because Macedonia is being affirmed through your achievements," said the President.
Team's captain Kire Lazarov vowed the players would do everything in their power to represent Macedonia around the world in a dignified fashion.
"We will fight without making any calculations and hopefully we will celebrate our success in the end," Lazarov said.
Macedonia landed at the 11th position in the previous world handball tournament held in Sweden
