Macedonia Ranks 64th on Corruption Scale

Macedonia ranks 64th out of 175 countries, according to the Corruption Perception Index contained in the latest report issued by Transparency International, meaning it is among the middle-ranked countries.

The assessment of corruption is based on the phenomenon in the public sector and is defined as abuse of position for personal gain. This represents a mild increase for Macedonia. Last year, the country stood at the 44th place, and in 2012, at the 43rd.


Aas to the countries in the region, Bulgaria comes 60th, Montenegro is 76th, Serbia 78th, Croatia 61st, while Albania and Kosovo share the same place, i.e. the 110th.
