Macedonia seeks dam construction for 70-MW Boskov Most hydro project

Macedonia utility AD Elektrarni na Makedonija (Elem) seeks bids to construct the dam and other civil works of the 70-MW Boskov Most hydroelectric project on the Mala Reka River in western Macedonia. Bids are due March 31.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development agreed in November 2011 to lend 65 million euros (US$88.4 million) to Macedonia for construction of Boskov Most, which is to enable the Balkan nation to reduce electricity imports and cut the country's carbon intensity by 95,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
Elem invited pre-qualification in 2012 for civil and underground works construction and invited bids in 2013 to supply electro-mechanical equipment for the project.
The utility now seeks bids for Lot 1, Contract CW, construction of works of rockfill dam, diversion system, power waterways, powerhouse and related civil works near Debar.
