Statistics show that the export from the zones in the first six months of this year is more than EUR 550 million, which means the amount is doubled compared to the same period in 2013, says the director of the Directorate for Industrial Development Zones, Viktor Mizo.
He stated the success is owed to the functionality of the new companies in Macedonia.
"First and foremost is Van Hool in Skopje 2 industrial zone, then Johnson Controls in Stip zone and the second stage of Johnson Matthey in Skopje 1 zone. At the same time Kemet Electronics doubled its production in the first six months of 2014 compared to last year," Mizo stated.
Mizo also stressed that Johnson Matthey is setting a new record in production every single month, being Macedonia’s top exporter.
"Since the final figures in 2013, the companies in the industrial zones contribute with almost 25 percent to the overall export rate in Macedonia. By looking at these figures, it is expected this year the companies to record even bigger input to total export rates. I'm pleased that the coverage of import with export in the country is increasing year by year and one of the main reasons for this are these functional companies and foreign direct investments in new production capacities in the country," Mizo concluded.
