MIA: Macedonia only country ranked in the regional group TIER1 for the fifth time

The Ministry of Interior has welcomed the latest State Department Trafficking in Persons report, where Macedonia is again ranked in the “Tier One” group of countries that meet the Trafficking Victims Protection Act’s (TVPA) minimum standards for elimination of trafficking. “The fact that Macedonia has maintained its leadership status in the region is an obligation for serious analysis of the report and proceeding upon its recommendations”, the MoI said in a press release on Tuesday.

Macedonian Industrial Production Grows by 6.4%

Industrial production index in June this year, compared to the same month last year, marks a 6.4% growth, the State Statistical Office has said. According to sectors, the industrial production in the mining and quarrying sector in June 2015, compared to June 2014, has risen by 9.2%; the processing industry saw a growth of 4.3%, while the electric energy, gas, steam supply and air conditioning sector has went up by 13.8%. The comparison of the main industrial groups shows that the production in June 2015, in terms of June 2014 marks a growth with the energy sector - by 5.8%; intermediary products, except energy - by 4.4%, and capital products - by 33.3%, while there has been a decrease with wide consumption permanent products - by 16.6%, and wide consumption impermanent products - by 0.5%. The industrial production in the period January-June 2015, in terms of the same period last years, marks a 0.8% growth.

Makedonische Regierung beklagt Ansturm von Flüchtlingen

Makedonien ist das Ziel immer neuer Flüchtlingsströme aus Richtung Griechenland nach Westeuropa. Allein in den vergangenen drei Tagen hätten mehr als 1850 Flüchtlinge vor allem aus Syrien und Afghanistan Asyl beantragt, berichteten Medien am Dienstag in Skopje.  Die Flüchtlinge erhalten in der Regel auf einige Tage befristete makedonische Personaldokumente, mit denen sie über Serbien und Ungarn weiterreisen können. Die Zahl der Flüchtlinge werde im September auf bis zu 10'000 Menschen am Tag ansteigen, prognostizierten Helfer unter Berufung auf griechische Angaben. Makedonien sei mit den Flüchtlingsmassen hoffnungslos überfordert.

Trabzonspor in Mazedonien angekommen

Neben Fenerbahces Auftritt in der Champions League stehen Istanbul Basaksehir und Trabzonspor ebenfalls vor wegweisenden Auftritten im europäischen Wettbewerb. Während die Istanbuler mit dem AZ Alkmaar das deutlich schwerere Los gezogen haben, geht es für die Bordeaux-Blauen aus Trabzon gegen den mazedonischen Vertreter Rabotnicki Skopje. Empfangen worden ist die Mannschaft von Trainer Shota Arveladze in Mazedonien sehr warmherzig. Knapp 50 Anhänger des Schwarzmeerklubs belagerten die Truppe um Stephane Mbia & Co. und ließen sich neben zahlreichen Autogrammwünschen mit ihren Stars ablichten. Abschlusstraining am Mittwoch

Grenzschutz - Österreich und Tschechien unterstützen Mazedonien

Österreich und Tschechien wollen verstärkt gemeinsam gegen das Schlepperunwesen an der EU-Außengrenze vorgehen. Innenministerin Johanna Mikl-Leitner tourte am Montag nach Tschechien, um mit ihrem Amtskollegen Milan Chovanec darüber zu beraten, wie in Mazedonien die dortige Grenze mit tschechischen und österreichischen Beamten verstärkt geschützt werden kann. State Department: Macedonia Is Regional Leader in Combat against Human Trafficking

With the release of the U.S. State Department’s annual Trafficking in Persons report, the United States commends Macedonia for again achieving ‘Tier One’ status. The Government of Macedonia’s efforts to combat this terrible crime in the past year included prosecutions and convictions of police officers for complicity in trafficking crimes, an initiative to identify child victims and refer them to assistance organizations, and a significant increase in the amount spent on victim protection and support, the report reads. "We encourage Macedonia to increase its anti-­trafficking efforts in future years so that it remains a regional leader in the struggle against trafficking in persons, and we look forward to our continued partnership with Macedonia on this and other vital rule of law issues."
