President Gjorge Ivanov is paying a visit to the United States on September 21-29. The purpose of his visit is to attend the 67th General Assembly of the United Nations, where President Ivanov is scheduled to deliver an address at a general debate on Sept. 27. The Macedonian President in New York will meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and with his special envoy in the name talks, Matthew Nimetz, Ivanov's cabinet said in a press release Friday. The President will reaffirm the request for unblocking Macedonia’s integration processes for membership in the European Union and NATO, by respecting the judgment of International Court of Justice and the international commitments, while also requesting the process led under the auspices of the UN chief for overcoming the difference over the name to be unblocked. Die Vienna Insurance Group AG Wiener Versicherung Gruppe (VIG) setzt sich mit der Unterzeichnung des Vertrags zum Erwerb des Mehrheitsanteils an der QBE Makedonija an die Spitze des mazedonischen Versicherungsmarktes. Der Konzern übernimmt knapp 75 Prozent der Stimmrechte an der Gesellschaft. Durch diese Akquisition steigt die Vienna Insurance Group zum Marktführer auf und baut die Position als führender Versicherer im südosteuropäischen Raum weiter aus. Die mazedonische Regierung hat Klage vor dem Internationalen Gerichtshof (IGH) gegen Griechenland eingereicht. Der Grund: Durch die Verhinderung des Nato-Beitritts unter seinem provisorischen Namen habe Athen eine Übereinkunft aus dem Jahr 1995 „schwerwiegend verletzt“. Der seit Jahren schwelende sogenannte Namensstreit zwischen Griechenland und Mazedonien hat sich weiter verschärft: Am Montag reichte die mazedonische Regierung Klage vor dem Internationalen Gerichtshof (IGH) gegen Griechenland ein. Der IGH ist das Hauptrechtsprechungsorgan der Vereinten Nationen mit Sitz Den Haag. Die Klage bezieht sich darauf, dass die Regierung in Athen den von allen anderen Mitgliedern befürworteten Beitritt des Balkan-Staates zur Nato blockiert. Albanian citizen Genci Halili (25) died Sunday afternoon in an accident while stealing timber in the Macedonian village of Mislodezda. - Genci and his brother Erion were cutting timber when around 17hrs of that afternoon, one of the logs fell on Genci killing him on the spot. His brother put him on a horse and brought him to Mislodezda, however upon arrival doctors were only able to confirm his death, says Stefan Dimovski, MoI, Ohrid. Monday’s promotion of the 2012 publication of 200 largest and most successful companies in Macedonia was organized by the Capital Media Group. The list of best companies also includes Lukoil, Vitaminka, Granit, Beton, ArcelorMittal, MEPSO, Feni Industry, ORKA Holding, Imperial Tobacco… These companies realise 47% of the total revenue, create largest number of jobs, being the driving power of Macedonia’s economic development, Branko Azeski, chair of the Economic Chamber, said at the promoting ceremony.
