Bild
Indian businessmen Subrata Roy said Thursday the tourism complex set to be built at the Ohrid Lake shore would be among the world's top ten. "The entire project is primarily initiated from a business aspect. We do not want it to be an average complex, but one of the top ten destinations of this type in the world", Roy told reporters on Ohrid. He emphasized that the ambitious project would be beneficial for both parties - Macedonia and Sahara Group. I see the project's economic justification by targeting elite clientele from the whole world, in particular from India, Russia, China, Europe, he said. "I believe that millions of India's citizens will come here as tourists. It is also the case with people from China, Russia, Europe. I don't expect a great number of guests from Canada, US. Its hard to predict who would our guests be, but I am certain that this project will improve the economic situation in your country," Roy said. Hi...

We know that this is an ambitious agenda, but Ireland's presidency will work a progress to be made by Western Balkan countries," Gilmore stated while presenting Irish presidency priorities in the EP, Italy's ANSA new agency reported. MEP Posselt: Opposition to end boycott, accept that majority of Macedonia's citizens stands behind government

Bild
Macedonia's opposition must accept the fact that the government enjoys the support of the majority of citizens, return to the Parliament and realize that the boycott is not a response, MEP Bernd Posselt said Tuesday at a first presentation of a European Parliament draft-resolution on Macedonia progress to the EP Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), MIA reports from Brussels. However, Posselt said those backed by the majority should also understand that the minority was also entitled to own rights. An end should be also put to the threats of Macedonia's territorial aspiration towards the neighbours, Posselt said, pointing out that the country has thus far amended its constitution, flag and accepted an interim reference only for the sake of settling the row over its constitutional name, 'which unfortunately is still present.' "Therefore, I fully agree with the proposal of EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule for launching of Macedonia's EU accession ...

Bild

Deutsches Team erwartet 'heißes Gefecht' gegen Mazedonien

Handball: Macedonia loses to Denmark, to avoid France in next round

Bild
Germany did what Macedonia wanted to do. The Germans beat France prior to the start of Macedonia v Denmark match which meant, France is now second in the group which of course meant Macedonia will not face the French only if they lost to Denmark. Which is exactly what the team in red and yellow did. Teams have calculated and will continue to create plans that fit them regardless if they have to lose to someone, even on purpose. The Macedonians started the match well, unburdened to earn a win against a tough Danish team. The Danes took the lead 0-1, however Macedonia got it back 2-1 and did not relinquish it for a long period going into the second half. 14-13 was the half time score in favor of Macedonia. The second half started with Macedonia increasing the lead, all the way to 24-22. It was at that time when the team took off their foot from the gas pedal and allowed Denmark to take over the match. The Danish wrapped it up 33-30. Will Macedonia'...

Hey, come build a plant in sunny Macedonia

Bild
Jesse Snyder is senior writer forAutomotive News DETROIT -- Viktor Mizo is all smiles and speaks fluent English as he explains why the Republic of Macedonia would be an excellent spot to build an auto parts plant. Mizo can rattle off his country's virtues -- low wages averaging about $500 a month, 97 percent literacy, universal English-language instruction and business incentives that European Union members "just can't give anymore" -- faster than you can take his business card. As CEO of the Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones, Mizo and three staffers were at the Automotive News World Congress this week to drum up investment. Macedonia is serious about the automotive industry. At Automotive News Europe in Munich, I started getting calls from the country's minister of investment in 2006 urging me to visit him in Skopje. Then he would admit no auto plants had come yet. Seven years later, Macedonia has 50 parts plants,...

Handball-WM: Deutschland im Achtelfinale gegen Makedonien

Bild

Greece rejects Fule's proposal on trilateral meeting

Bild
Greece in the past prtetended to be 'constructive'  in the name negotiations, but that was in the past. Today there isn't even an attempt on Athens' part to be constructive in any shape or form even though its economy is solely dependent on handouts by the EU. Athens believes there is no need of a trilateral meeting of the Greek and Macedonian foreign ministers, Dimitris Avramopoulos and Nikola Poposki, with the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Fule. "The Greek side looks forward to the upcoming meeting of the representatives of the two sides with UN envoy Matthew Nimetz in New York, on 29-30 January, to ascertain the extent to which there are prospects for progress, and, consequently, at this stage there is no issue of a meeting of the ministers of the two countries with Fule," Greece's foreign ministry has said. MoFA spokesman Gregory Delavekouras in a written statement says that "Greece is not opposed to meetings in principle, un...

Handball: Macedonia ties Russia in last moments...

Bild
Thanks to a brilliant catch-up chase and an equalizer 15 seconds before the end, Macedonia took a draw against the Russians, who had been in lead nearly the whole 60 minutes. Thanks to this result, both teams do not only have five points on their account, but also qualified for the eight-finals like Denmark did the day before. Russian left wing Timur Dibirov was clearly the player to imprint the first half: The counter-attack specialist, who scored seven times before the break was the key for the 16:13 halftime lead of the team of coach Oleg Kuleshov. The Russian had the better start, led by 7:4, before a time-out of coach Zvonko Shundovski paved the way for the strongest period of Macedonia before the break. Led by Kiril Lazarov, they equalized at 8:8 and continued a series of 8:3 goals to be in lead 12:10. But the match changed again, when the Russian defence woke up and caused a number of Macedonian turnovers – those ball possessions and the saves of goalkeeper Igor Levshi...

HOWITT: TIME FOR 'CONSEQUENCES' FOR 'INTOLERABLE' BLOCKAGES TO EU ACCESSION

Bild
Blockages to the European Union admitting new members are 'intolerable', with current EU members 'hiding' their opposition and a failure to suffer consequences for broken promises, hart-hitting evidence to a Committee of Inquiry on EU was told on Tuesday. The evidence is being presented by British Labor Euro MP Richard Howitt to the UK Parliament (House of Lords Select Committee) as the MEP responsible for overseeing Macedonia's EU-accession and who serves on the joint committee with the fellow EU-applicant Turkey. In his evidence, Howitt says in hindsight it was wrong for former British PM Tony Blair to agree EU membership of Cyprus before reconciliation on the island. It is 'perverse' in the current situation with Greece that the EU is failing to put conditions on Athens to solve the longstanding name dispute with Greece, he says. Amongst a series of practical proposals, Howitt suggests forcing of open votes on accession issues in the Europea...

VATICAN CONCERNED OVER RADICAL ISLAM IN ALBANIA

Bild
The Catholic Church expresses concern over the breakthrough of radical Islam in Albania, reads a Holy See report, MIA reports from Tirana. Archbishop of Shkodra, Monsignor Angelo Masafra has submitted a detailed report to the ACR Foundation, which is a donor of the Catholic clergy. "Radical Islam upsets the Muslim tradition itself. There are enormous funds pouring in from Saudi Arabia and Turkey", reads the report. Ilir Kulla, former chair of the Association of Religious Communities, believes the last census in Albania has in a way accelerated radicalism. According to him, the opening of the Islamic University will serve for gathering of young Muslims "in order to prevent them from schooling in other places and assimilating with other dogma".
