The start of construction works of a new clinical center in front of the old building of the Skopje Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics was marked Thursday by Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Health Minister Nikola Todorov and his deputy Jovica Andovski.
PM Gruevski said the "large-scale operation" kicked off with a demolition of the clinic's old building, which needed to be removed in order to erect a new large complex of clinics called "Mother Teresa".
"The old building of the Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics is over 80 years old. The new clinical center will be constructed on the location of the old hospital. In fact, from a technical point of view, the construction of new premises begins today only after the removal of the old building, step by step, without disturbing the working conditions of the nearby clinics within the 'Mother Theresa' campus," Gruevski said adding the demolition process would take three months.
The government invests Euro 70 million in the new clinical building, which will be constructed in a period of three years.
"A major project for the country is being launched today, because the 'Mother Theresa' clinical campus will function for everyone in Macedonia. Not only medical activities, but also scientific ones will be compacted in the clinical building in much better and more modern conditions, which will benefit patients and the entire hospital staff," Premier Gruevski stated.
