Macedonia regulator publishes DVB-T tender

The Macedonian regulator AEK published a tender for the assignment of frequencies in the 470–790 MHz band. The authorisation will be assigned for the for the multiplexes MUX 6, MUX 7 and MUX 8 in eight locations and MUX 6 and MUX 7 in one location (Skopje City). The frequencies will be available after the switch-off of analogue TV in June 2013. The operator assigned the radio frequencies will be obliged to build a digital terrestrial system and start broadcasting from 1 June 2013. MUX 6 and 7 are reserved for broadcasting of commercial terrestrial broadcasters with national coverage, and MUX 8 for broadcasting of commercial terrestrial broadcasters with regional coverage. The licences are valid for ten years. The coverage requirement as of 1 June 2013 and during the whole period of the licence is 80 percent of the whole territory and 80 percent of each region. Applications can be submitted within 45 days.
